Ho Ho Hum…

Okay…I am about to let you in on a little secret about myself…I am not a Holiday kinda of girl. There I said it…it’s out in the open. Not that I don’t enjoy the spirit of Christmas I do. I just don’t like the whole shopping, decorating commercialization of the whole event.  I have never been a Christmas card sender nor am I great at remembering all those little gifts for Joe down the street or cousin Ed kids that just so happens to coming in to town this year for the Holidays.  It is all too stressful for me and all too expensive.  I do love some of the Christmas things like our Christmas dinner with all the family and I enjoy seeing the kids getting together filled with excitement and anticipation…that day is so festive. But other than family time there really isn’t much that I do enjoy about the whole event.  Lucca my young son has a Christmas list 3 pages long and thinks that Christmas represents a win-fall in his toy collection. When talking with him about what Christmas is truly about he surges his shoulders and says…yea but Santa bringing me bah..bah..bah.. forget about the celebration of Jesus or any religious meaning. It’s all about the presents and if you don’t want to disappoint there better be a lot of them.. So here I go into the time of year that really means for me anyway…enough is never enough and if you don’t believe me…go to Target right now…everybody looks so happy in the toy section. Not to mention finding a parking space.

I love Christmas but I don’t shop for gifts. I make them. One I made one year was my daughters favorite gift. So she made a set for her aunt.

On one side of the family we drew names.

The kids only get three gifts as to represent the gifts Jesus was brought by the three kings. It was a tradition in one of my sil’s homes.

If you don’t get it all done, don’t stress about it. Because I am sure God wouldn’t want you to be stress out about it.

It is true that it has become commercialized.
But we can choose to not let it happen in our own homes. I know that it might seem hard to do. But it can be done.

One year when my kids were young after their father had passed away I gave them things of their dads when I was low on money.

Christmas shouldn’t be stressful. Not even if you don’t have money to spend. Because it really isn’t what Christmas is about.

I love walking in the neighborhood looking at the lights, listening to the music, wathcing the Christmas videos, making goodies, the family get togethers. And of course the kids excitement.

God Bless You and Yours and Have a
Very Merry Christmas and a Very Happy
    Blessed New Year Too!
