It’s fall planting season here on the farm.

It still feels like the dead of summer out there in the field, but we are running behind trying to get the fall crops planted and they don’t like this hot humid weather. This week I am planting the remaining bulk of our fall crops. I have been holding off hoping for better weather but I am running out of time. It’s not just the heat that has kept me out of the field it’s also the bugs…these summer pest love the cool season crops and will lay waste to them as they germinate and raise from the soil. Harlequin bugs love anything in the mustard family. And they are abundant right now. Broccoli and Cabbage goes in the ground this week. Let hope for some fall like weather coming soon.
