March is alway this crazy time on the farm…we have crazy weather 30 degrees one day 80 the next..It rains a lot and there is just so much that needs to get done to ready the farm for our season to start. It’s planting season, it’s clean up season, it’s repair season and it is work..work ..work season. But it is also my favorite time of the year. I LOVE SPRING TIME!!! This week we planted out the first crops for the spring season..Spinach, Kale and spring onions. It is tricky without a greenhouse but after 18 years we kinda have it down. Next up we will be planting out the broccoli, sugar snap peas and lettuces ect..ect..Last year one of our farm volunteers that comes out and helps Mark every once in a while asked about having a spring wedding here on the farm..it’s a small little wedding he says..really easy..and simple and they just wanted to have it here on the farm because they love it so much..Problem was they wanted to get married the end of March…yes right in the height of our planting season. We don’t have events here on the until May-Oct..so this is way early for us..I told them the farm looks a lot different when nothing is growing out there..but hey it’s small and they are keeping it really simple..they said.. and these are such sweet people..now it’s over 100 people with food trucks and bands…lord help me!!..and somebody needs to really take Mark off to watch hockey or something on this day..he may have a heart-attack..i am kidding of course..kinda..ha ha
Our CSA is now full for the spring and summer season…thank you all for all you love and support. We will keep you updated on our first pickup date late April/early May depending on the weather on how the crops are coming along.
Happy Spring!! see y’all soon, Peggy
