 Farm Internships & Seasonal employment

Our farm internship is a very important part of what we have always wanted to accomplish here at Madison Creek Farms. As a third generation farm we understand the importance of good mentorship and practical knowledge when it comes to working the land organically and trying to farm sustainable. Most of our intern requests have come from people who have dreams of one day operating their own sustainable farm. Some applicants come from as far as other counties and some from just a few miles away but all have one thing in common, they care about the future of the small family farm.   When we were planting our first crops almost a decade ago here on the farm we began a journey that we have shared with many along the way. We have chosen to open our farm to those that would like to live and work, learn, laugh and share the experiences (ups & downs) of the farming life.

~ How our internship program works ~

Our typical season starts in March and runs through October. We usually host 2-3 full time interns that live here on the farm throughout the season. Some of our interns have shorter stays but we do require a minimum of 4 week stays. During the peak of our season we may have part-time employees and volunteers that work on the farm as well. Our interns have private on-farm housing that is a very comfortable 3 bedroom 2 full bath home that is walking distances from the production field. Our work days tend to begin early morning and then we break during the heat of the day and begin again during the evening hours. Our interns will be exposed to all the different facets of running a CSA, on-farm market, direct sales through 2 farmers markets as well as agritourism. We want our interns to have a well rounded experience here on the farm and that included learning to work independently and along side Mark and myself.  We encourage our interns to also be creative and explore ways in which they themselves can find niche markets to earn extra money while here on the farm. We ask that our interns provide us with 30/36 hrs a week of farm labor in exchange for housing & monthly stipend plus at least 3 to 4 meals (lunch or dinner) plus the vegetables from the garden.
Tasks will vary from day to day and as the season progresses. Below is an example of some of the tasks our interns can expect to be asked of them during their stay here with us at Madison Creek Farms.

~A couple of things you should know about us~

  1.      Mark and I along with "Lucca" our young son --> are a fairly private family   given that we enjoy what little time we have alone together as a family during our busy season.

  2. We prefer to keep our faith to ourselves.

  3. We are human and in that we are not perfect, it wouldn't be nearly as fun I think if we were. We like to laugh at ourselves and our mistakes, have fun in this good life we have been given and feel blessed to be able to do what we do for a living.

  4. Lucca sometimes pee pee 's outside......
